The context and the role

The right formula for vehicle refinishing

A vehicle repair shop needs to reproduce an existing paint colour. Where colour samples were previously compared manually, MIXIT supports a digital workflow: measure the colour, find a suitable paint formula and weigh the required quantities. The platform can be used on computers and mobile devices.

The contribution: a modular Azure foundation

Pascal’s work included Azure PaaS architecture, hybrid integration with on-premises systems and multi-region deployments. Build and release processes were set up for web APIs, the web application and the mobile app. The microservices architecture allowed for expansion into other business units, including Aerospace.

Connecting formula data and equipment

Newly developed formulas from the on-premises environment were synchronised to Azure in real time. Search functionality made formula data accessible. Different types of scales were also connected to the platform through Wi-Fi and serial interfaces. Global availability, high load and varying network conditions were requirements for the design.

Implemented in practice

The contribution summarised as technical and practical deliverables.

  • Azure PaaS architecture and hybrid integration with on-premises formula data.
  • Multi-region deployment and build and release processes using Azure DevOps.
  • Web and mobile applications based on a modular microservices architecture.
  • Search functionality and integrations with weighing equipment.
